I was hoping to buy an eBook reader off of ebay or something, but I was
unsure of what to look for. I was hoping that someone could please help me
decide on what to get. I don't know what specs come on a good eReader, like
RAM, Video (screen size etc), processor and stuff. Also, what types of
files will work on these readers? Could I put ANY text document on there? Or
do they only read stuff like PDF (Adobe files) files? So basically, what
are some standard things that work with (files) and what are some standard
things that come with a eBook reader. It would be VERY helpful if someone
would reply... Thanks

Hi Erik,

Having just joined this group I came across your post and thought that
I should reply as nobody else had taken the time to.

There are many different book readers available and none of them reads
every format. The best news is that the readers are usually available
free, if you wish to write a book then that's a different story
(excuse the pun).

You can read about and download a selection of readers at the
following address:-

http://www.ebookmall.com/knowledge-collection/

Most are free, some have a small charge, the best thing about this
page is that it provides you with the file extentions and tells you
which reader to use for that type of file.

For my part, I try only to provide books that are self contained, that
is they are executable books and have a reader built into them, or
they use Adobe Acrobat Reader as they are PDF format books.

My selection of eBooks is still growing, but I like to think that this
small collection has something for everyone.

A lot of the books available from my site are free. The business
section has a selection of books that interest a lot of people and the
prices are kept low.

One book in particular "The Ultimate eBook Library" is very popular as
it has ober 6000 eBooks available for download once you own it. That
particular book contains one or more eBook creators so that you can
produce your own books.

Anyway, I hope that I have answered you question, feel free to contact
me if you need more information.
