Hello all,

I'm not sure if anyone still reads/writes in here (seems kinda
quiet) Anyway, I just got a reb1100 from a fiend (off ebay). It
seemed to work fine at first (Had a copy of some old book on it).
Then I plugged it into my pc and started looking at the software that
came with. Some kind of library program. So I found a spot that
showed me the books on the device and decided I didn't want them so I
deleted the first one and then found a feature called "Format". I
assumed this either had to do with formatting the memory or formatting
a smart media card. Either way I'm a clean it and start over kinda
person so I hit the button. This seemed to take a few minutes? Maybe
less. I don't recall exactly if this is when things went wrong or
shortly there after. Basically the machine turned off (which it
seemed to do if nothing was done to it for a few minutes). When I
tried to turn it on it waited a full second or more then came on with
a blank white screen for about a second then back off. At first I
thought it was off, but actually i was just the backlight that was
off. On the screen (hard to see) was a grid of lines over the entire
screen area and in the middle was some kind of logo that's really hard
to see. Anyway, none of the buttons do anything and the reset button
on the back under the flap doesn't seem to have any effect on changing
this. Anyone know anything about this? I've recharged it and see to
change. Is this a known issue? Can anyone give me any pointers on
what to do next?

Thanks,
David

The firmware that provides for reading eBooks has been damaged. You
should try contacting Gemstar to see if you can get support. There's
very little you will be able to do on your own, at this point.
